A Not So Busy Night

Hmm... I failed to find time to post pictures as I have promised in my last post... boo! probably a case of 'katams' encouraged by my current shift and unavailability of our home PC a couple of weeks ago. Plus, I did not get the pictures I want to post... boo!

Oh well, I have to settle with text as of the moment.

So what's new?

Our team has a new boss... he rolled in the team last Wednesday. Hope he's ok... but he seems strict...
We're joking around the other night that if our new Team Lead starts taken the night shift, no more 'petiks' time for us hahahaha! The mood is quite relaxed when there are no managers and team leads around. I guess that's about to change.

Right now, I'm looking forward to August 15... that's my planned roll-off date from my current team. Though, I don't want to think about it at the moment because my supposed 'replacement' won't be in until August 1. Plus, 2 of my teammates are not yet back from their Chicago assignment...

Also, this roll-off thing makes me excited and at the same time, anxious.
It makes me wonder if I am going to like my new assignment or team/project mates.
Makes me wonder where this new career path would take me.

One thing I would surely miss is night differential pay hahahaha!!!

Hmm... I probably should not think about it much for now :-)
Enjoy ko na lang muna yung team namin ngayon at night shift... na wala pang boss! hahahaha!!!

Dentures

After around 3 months and a couple of 5-digit pesos, tapus na yung isang complicated dental procedure sa ngipin ko...

gravy! ang mahal! at ang tagal! waaah!!! :-(

at hindi pa dito matatapos ang lahat... may 3rd molar extraction pa ako at ubos na yung medical allowance ko. Sa September na sana. Sana... sana hindi sumakit o masira yung katabing molar.

oh well. I'm old. may pustiso na ako hahahaha!!!! :-P

90s Kid

From Chi's blog, may 80's atmosphere sa cbox, it made me remember the fun I had when I was a kid. From what I was doing back then, I guess it explains why I am not into movies and 80s music. Though it's fun discovering some 80s music and movies with Chi and Papu.

I usually spend time outside the house, not watching TV. As for music, I listen to what Guia and Jeck listen to... like GNR, STP, Wolfgang, Yano, The Youth, Eheads... mostly rock music and Pinoy rock music is at it's peak back then.

There was an email saying "You are a 90's kid if..." with a list of things and activities people do during the 90s. My activities below are mostly on that list...

Growing up, I spent most of my time outside with neighbors
playing agawan base, patintero, piko, marbles and taguan [especially during long 'brownout' nights]
climbing roof tops and water tower tanks
biking around Marikina on 'riders', BMXs and mountain bikes
'camping' on the fields near the creek or vacant lots, story telling around a bonfire
making toys like detergent powered styrofoam boats and 'alateris' guns...

I loved playing in rain back then and water fights with water balloons fly and water guns and hoses spray worked double time.

Madami pang pwede isulat but I guess I want to share stories about them more in person :-)

haay... masarap maging bata :-) lalu na kung simple lang ang buhay at mura lang [most of the time, LIBRE!] maglaro at mag-enjoy hehehe :-P

Well, wala naman kasi akong pasok din kagabi so I dropped by Makati. It was suppose to be a late dinner out but OT work is just to much. On my way to LKG, Chi asked if I can just buy dinner. The nearest feasible option to buy, asside from McDo is Jollibee. I dropped by for a C3 meal [1 pc Chicken with Jolly Spaghetti]. I got a double TLC burger.

It's been a while since I ate in Jollibee. Yung pinakamalapit kasi sa office, tatawid pa ng EDSA! Darn you Rob Pioneer! hehehe

Well, madalas na rin naman ako nagbabaon, so ok lang. :-P

Dahil wala si Nat, ang nilaan na ‘apprentice’ ko, Blog muna! Hahaha!

Naalala ko lang… sabi ng karamihan ng naging guro ko sa Theo at Philo, madalas nagagamit na yung kaalaman ng klase nila kapag tumatanda ka…

Sa mga nakaraang araw, madalas na usaping sinisimulan ng Nanay ko ay kung paano na lang umasal ang Tatay ko ngayon. HAHAHA! Sabi ko nga sa kanya, parang bata eh hehehe.

Paminsan-minsan, napapakwento ako sa mga naranasan ko sa Theo classes ko… Karamihan sa TH131 at 151. 131, kasi marami kaming nakapanayam na mag-asawa noon. 151, kasi tungkol naman iyo sa Commitment.

Naisip ko lang… mukhang napatunayan ang nauna kong pangungusap dito. Kung may Theo at Philo classes siguro ang tatay ko noon, siguro mas mapagtatanto niya yung mga ginagawa niya ngayon. Hehehe

A Morning Side Trip

Does it make you feel good to wake up in the wrong side of Metro Manila?

The term "side" might not be the right word... hahaha!
I don't remember if I have shared this before. Last time, I was working night shift in Libran House. On the ride back home, I fell asleep. I woke up in East Ave! I was suppose to hop off in Cubao... That was a Monday.

Thursday that same week, I fell asleep again. That time, I do not know where I was. I looked for familiar landmarks but there is none. I looked in the middle of the highway, there's no more MRT! I looked forward for some road signs to tell me where I am. I saw a sign that says NLEX! I talked to the conductor, he told me to hop off, cross the highway through an overpass and ride another bus. Hopping off, I saw a sign that says Balintawak.

In this morning's bus ride, I woke up in an unfamiliar place again. I looked at signs as the bus enters a flyover. No signs say Cubao. I watched where the bus lands and waited for a familiar spot. And there is was, Quezon Ave! waaah!!! Yes, I have passed the intersection before... but I was on a car that time. I do not know how to get back to Cubao! I saw jeeps passing by but I wasn't too familiar with their route. Luckily, there is an MRT station at the place.

Well, just my luck. I was too early for the first train. It's 5AM! First train is scheduled for 5:30AM. Good thing McDonald's just opened.

hahaha!

I got home. MRT, LRT2 and a jeep ride.
I miss roadtrips with the ECE boys haha! College days...

Last saturday, after my work, diretso ako kina Pael, nakiligo at diretso kina Chi... walang tulugan [master showman :-P] Pupunta kasi kami ng Mall of Asia para i-meet ang Barx dahil birthday ni Noel at manlilibre siya.

The last time that I went there was Dec 30, 2005 para sa Pyrolympics... hindi pa gawa yung mall! hahahaha!!! Ayus naman yung mall. Sobrang laki! nakakatamad ikutin at mamili haha! pero ayus din naman yung ganun kapag wala kang magawa. mainit nga lang kasi walang ercon yung mga lakaran.

over all, I would say that the mall is ok :) kaso malayo at mainit hahaha!
I need to go back to appreciate it. Sayang din kasi hindi kami nakapag-ice-skating... haba ng pila!!! hahaha

Shift shifts

hirap talaga nang may shifting sa work. Before when I applied, I disregarded the question about shifting. Ngayong nandito na ako, langya! pang-asar!!! hahaha!!!

And I believe it has been a week now since we first argued on what shift we should take. Kasi, 2 weeks ago, there was a new proposed shift for the team. This messed up the December schedule.

Hanggang ngayon, may mga problema pa sa sched. ang hirap naman pag-usapan ng buong team kasi hindi naman kami nagkikita ng buo... hahaha! diba. oh well... so far, heto muna. wala akong pictures sa office kaya wala akong ma-upload na mga pics. next time. kapag nasa bahay at natripan mag-post :)

After the rain stopped, we continued walking along Roxas Blvd.

Yes, it was quite chessy kasi 'Luneta Park'. But it was nice! There are alot of artsy stuff to see. Astig din :)

While we were walking along Roxas, Manny's fight was on. We heard some shouts along the way. Sabi ko, "Tumumba siguro si Morales... Panalo na kaya si Manny?"
We passed by a small store with a TV in the park. It was showing the replay of the knock out, then came the awarding ceremonies.

At the heat of the afternoon, we tried going to the planetarium. When we got there, the tenants told us that they only have shows Tuesday to Saturdays :(
Sad... we should have noted their schedule when we searched the internet.

So, next stop was Quiapo.

No wonder inis si Chi. Joke... The batibots were nice though, but there was not enough shade.

We hopped in a jeep to Quiapo from there and hopped out at Quiapo Church.
Unfortunately I didn't get to take pictures of the place and Plaza Miranda. There are alot of interesting things to take pictures of, pero magulo.

In the wide screen TV, we got to see the 3 rounds of action between Manny and Erik. Go Manny! Nice fight Erik [Feeling Close! haha!] Friends daw sila eh after the fight.

Nothing much happened after. WE walked around Quiapo and Recto then made our way home. We took the LRT1 from Carriedo station to EDSA. Constantly, we peeked at the window to have a glimpse of the sunset. [Sorry Chi, I hadn't had time to got back Bay Walk to watch it]

After that, we got quite disoriented on how to get to Sucat from EDSA. We finally got to Roxas Blvd again and hopped in a jeep back to BF.

Board exam is near. I don't know if I'll survive this one. Hmm... April? hahaha!!! Sana hindi na. haay... Well, after the board, sana marami na ulit akong time for other stuff. Mayroon na ulit akong weekend. Scary thing though, night shift na ako nyan after ng board... huhu T_T
Babawi pa raw mga teammates ko kasi na-hassle sila sa scheduling nila para pagbigyan ako sa review ko... [bad trip na 24/7 support yan!!! (cheap labor!!!! -chi) ] waah! added pressure para pumasa!!!

I would have to commend Christiane for a job well done. To help us memorize some of the details for the board exam, she makes up funny unrelated stories to sample board exam questions... hahaha! and it's working... wish lang namin, lumabas siya sa board para may 1 point na kami na sure! hahaha [ang baba naman ng goal ko]

Sample:
The middle C frequency... sabi ni Christiane, "extend mo lang yung sa baba ng 'C' para maging '6', tapos "middle", nasa ginta yung '6' ng dalawang '2'... 262 kHz!"

EO for cable TV [not so sure what about cable TV exactly]. "E.O. 205... kasi, 'cable' 5 letters... diba?"

Chi also made a contribution in reviewing me for the board. One night she said a plane flew above she shuttle ride one night and said it was a sonic boom. The nerdy me said that this can't be. She researched about the sonic boom phenomena and emailed a link to me. It said that the sound of a sonic boom can reach to about 200 Decibels [dB]. I replied, "Tama, hindi nga pwedeng sonic boom yun. Kasi, sa 120 dB, sasakit na tenga mo. Sa 150 dB, posible ka nang mabingi... Sabi yan sa review materials... hehe"

Nung 2nd week naming night shift, may nagdala ng camera [last day daw kasi niya mag-night shift fot that week]. Ayan, ito tuloy nangyari...

Tas na-day shift ng isang linggo... pero sobrang gulo na sana, nag-night shift na lang din ulit. Naiyak pa ako sa sobrang gulo... hehehe [pero thankful na rin. kahit paano, na-day shift ulit]

Weather Weather

Just a quick post.

I was going to post this supposedly last Monday. It’s because the weather that day and the next was just plain sweet. [Well, at least for me]

For the past weeks, typhoons come and go the country.
Funny because every time our counterparts in Chicago ask how we’re doing here, Rhea and I always say it’s rainy.

Then for two days, the weather is sunny, dry and breezy. Crisp cool air brushes through my face as a sun light kisses it with warmth all the same time.

A weather prefect for lounging out doors...
under a tree, or maybe on the beach or by the lake...

today is Accenture's NJO [New Joiners Orientation] Session 1.
funny thing though, there are some participants that are already in the company for more than a year now! I think there were 3? But one is from the BPO.

well, first time kong mag-shuttle hehe
it was far better than mornings at MRT [Bel! sabay tayo! kaso maaga ako... hehehe]

it's fun to meet new people and make new acquintances :)

naalala ko na kung bakit nung 4th year, Guil na yung nilalagay kong nickname ko. kahit walang tumatawag sa akin talaga ng Guil noon.

naalala ko nung 3rd year, ginawa kong Gee yung nickname ko. kaya may Geeler.

dahil kasi yung kina Bel at Bojay na tinawag akong "G" nung tinawag akong "G" ng kaibigan nilang si Ai, dahil hindi niya maalala pangalan ko.
sabi kasi nila mas maikli at madaling sabihin.

nakakatuwa tuloy ngayon kasi depende sa tawag sa akin, madaling kong nasasabi kung saan ko sila nakilala... hahaha!

paggising, late na ako sa review, where the review center is about 40mins away, so matutulog na lang ulit ako... hahaha!!!

masama to. baka mag-reflect sa work.
matagal-tagal na rin akong hindi gumigising ng maaga. panggabi nga utak ko eh.
eh pano yan, bukas, orientation na sa work? hahahaha!!!

ngayon, natulog, nanood ng TV at kumain lang ako.

Pagdating sa review center, kumuha ng handout, iniwan ang gamit, para ihatid si Chi pabalik ng tren... ayun, nayayang wag nang pumasok!

bumalik sa classroom, kinuha ang bag... tas nagliwaliw sa Maynila!

sa 5 puppies, ito na favorite ko. si "Dugan". kamukha kasi ng Aso ni Cedie, ang munitng prinsipe hahaha!!!

next na, ito, the only girl among the puppies. siya rin ang pinaka-short-legged at fluffy :)

Doctorate sa Grades:
So sad. after the ANI finals, ayan, sa math class ko, 9 and hindi umabot ng 60%
pagkatapos ilang trial and error method ng pagtataas ng HPS sa high components, at pagbaba sa low ng kanilang mga grades, kasabay ng ilang mga "times 2", "plus 1, divided by 2, plus 5" at kung anu-ano pang ginawa sa xls file, ayun, 2 na lang ang hindi umabot sa 60%
tas yung dalawa, mga nasa 58.89 at 59.14 [as I can remember it]
sa delibs committee ng Principal na sila sinalba...

sad nga lang, kasi sa homeroom class ko, may isang hindi mamartsa sa ANI Grad :(
at ang homeroom teachers ang inatasang magsabi nun sa kanila :(

but all hope is not lost for them. sana maramdaman nila yun. na after ANI, may pagkakataon silang bumawi sa pasukan ;)

ANI Pizza day:
last day yun ng finals nila. last day din ng mentoring... ayun, lahat ng teachers at mentor, sabay-sabay nanlibre... ng pizza!!! hahahaha!!!

dahil sa review, kapag ECE related stuff o mga jokes at kwento tungkol sa review, nadadala ko ang bisaya accent ng mga reviewers... hahahah! funny, pero cute din naman gayahin... haay...

kuya Albert! ayan, since I can't deal with my application in Toshiba anytime soon due to ANI and other restraints, I already accepted Accenture's offer. Dala na rin ng ilang pagmumuni-muni at pagtatanong-tanong sa mga tao. sakit din sa ulo isipin

nalungkot nga lang ako nang tinawagan ko Toshiba at sinabi kay Ms. Ana na hindi ko na matutuloy ang final interview ko.

tas kahapon, tumawag ang Maersk!!! nagtatanong kung interested daw ako sa isang position sa operations! grrr... sayang! Sad... I haven't explored on other opportunities yet. haay... tagal din pala nila tumawag. oh well.

i've been obsessing about the color green for some time now. when guil went shopping for his graduation long-sleeved shirt, i wanted him to wear green. wahaha. he did! but it wasn't me who picked it :(

and so his new blog color scheme is green. still some few tweaking to be done, like the link colors and stuff. pero next time na lang. :)

so, ayun after so many year, I had a chance to got to Lucban for the Pahiyas festival. last year, loser ako eh, I was the only one in the family that didn't come. Sunday pa man din yun. kasi, wala akong bisita. For me, the experience will not be different kung walang ibang kasama, bukod sa family ko. well, my brother had some visitors with him, pero gusto ko sa akin :-P

bitin yung experience nga lang ngayon dahil hindi pa all-out yung decors dahil sa ilan. :(

kanina, nag-text Mommy ko, sabi nila, may consulation prize daw ang decors namin sa bahay! huwaw! bakit kaya? last time I saw it, the kiping aranya and sunflowers weren't up yet. nasa camera ng ate ko yung picture...

I was waiting for Accenture to call for more than to weeks. tas, ayun, last Saturday, they called! I was expecting it was for another interview, pero ayun nga, as the title said, for Job Offer na!

so, this Monday, I went to Accenture for the offer...
heard them and then, it was all that I expected...

so, what now?

well, if it came earlier, kinagat ko na! kaso...
being with some ECE batchmates last Friday made me think. Do I really want an IT job? or do I want something more ECE related. I could get a network engineer position, ECE cadet program or telco related jobs... even considered manufacturing, after visting Toshiba in Laguna twice now.

wala lang... naisip ko nga, bat ko pa ginawa... pero masaya :) 2nd week na... aliw yung mga bata. though tahimik yung 3rd year peeps na hinahandle ko sa homeroom... sobrang kulit naman ng mga 4th year!!! waah! ehehehe

buti kahit paano, may nangungulit na sa mga 3rd year... nakita ko pa ata yung isang 3-S ANI kid ko sa Sta. Elena nung Sunday...

napatunayan ko kanina, mas pang physics ako...
habang naghihintay kina Keno at Lester, co-teacher ko sa Math, nagpaturo mga kids ko ng Physics. hirit nila, "kuya, bat hindi na lang yan ang tinuro mo" hehehe

may mga mentees din ako, si Monsur, Sarah, Robie and Paul [kapatid ni Omar Castro! hehehe]

I'm also enjoying meeting new people sa ANI Faculty room... I feel old though... most of them are 2nd & 3rd year people... hahahaha!!!

so sad...
last monday, I woke up and my brother asks me to check out the PC. ayaw daw kasi mag-connect sa internet... so, I did... turned out, the PCI slot could not detect my LAN card... or any Network adaptor for that matter. bottom line, my PC can't recognize any internet connection. the Globe DSL is ok though. so, kailangan ko ng bagong LAN card... sino meron!!! enge!!! hahahaha!

the Down side of it.
I CAN'T Check my mail!!!
hindi ko ma-career ang jobhunting! [pero I'm busy with ANI din naman]
hindi ko rin makuha yung mga ANI stuff that I need!!! grrr...

it's a given fact that riding the MRT during peak hours of the day would be jammed pack and hot... though for the start of April, it became a little bit worse. Sadly, it's not suppose to be the case but ever since the passenger segragation scheme was implemented, it became so.

so why did it became worse?

hey, I'm not against the new scheme
but the people concern does not seem to know about it.
the first MRT train couch is suppose to be for women, children and the elderly...

Jumie would say, "Ang Luwag! pwede kang tumambling!"
But I still see some ladies, roses among the thorns, in the middle couches of the train
this effectively lessening one train couch for the same number of passengers :(

When I see ladies on the platform queuing up for the middle couches, I want to approach them and say, "Uhm, excuse me, there is a more spacious part of the train for you... please, do us all a favor..." in the most polite way possible
and follow it up with, "please tell it to your other lady friends and relatives who ride the train"

It's hard to muster the courage to do it though, especially in our culture... hehehe

*sigh* why don't people read important announcements and notices :-P

ngayon naman, mahirap siya hanapin kasi wala siyang cellphone. eh panay ang lakad. may dalawang linggo lang kasi siya dito sa Pilipinas.

well, most of the time, I want to make the most of the day. I feel slightly guilty if I'm not productive... kahit anu, basta masabi lang na may nagawa ako sa araw ko.

kaya ayun, I enrolled in Maic's Gym, one time, I went jogging. Sana rin, makasama ako sa mga kapatid ko mag-swimming sa sport center... or siguro si Bel, sa Cervini ;) sarap mag-swimming dun eh.

an unlikely reunion

Last Wednesday, I saw Franz and he spilled the news...

F: Uy, Alam mo na ba yung kay Carlo [Santos]?
G: Hehe, ano, may anak na siya?
F: Hindi, yung sa Dad niya... Namatay Dad niya... plano namin bisitahin ni Jep.

At that moment, I felt awkward. Though I know Franz knew I didn't mean to joke around. It's an GB-Hboys thing...

So last night, I went to Loyola Memorial, Guadalupe to visit Carlo and his family.
Jep said he was taking it quite ok.
I know I had to go. After years of "disappearing" from them all [Hboys], especially the GB-Hboys, I know I had to go.

Funny to say it, but I was happy to see Carlo, eventhough it was a wake.
Aldo, Comps and Gino was there too... and they were in the H-kwentuhan mode...
...EK scandal, Ernest's vacation from PMA, TC chismis, overnights at Rard's place...

most of the time I can't relate, but I was just happy to hear their stories.
At that time, I knew I missed out on alot.

It took quite a while... and though I know I really can't fit wholly in the H-crowd, I miss them. Spending 4 years of my life with them, they kinda grew in me in more ways than one.

it was another lazy morning for me... I came late for a class so I just didn't went at all [bad... so bad]. while walking about 3rd floor Faura Hall, I saw Ning. She greeted me, and talked about her nominating me in the AECES Award as 'the late samurai'. I laughed because I was indeed late that day... I also reminded her that it was my peso that made her nominate me...

Then, I just felt it... I miss my Intact freshies. Ning and I just felt hugging each other...

after a while, I saw Ayen.
After some hellos and short updates, I also asked for a hug from her...
haay...

I'm going to miss those kids when I'm gone... I miss them already... hehe

later in a afternoon, I saw some of my Intact freshies from last school year. Miko was there, even if he's no longer in Ateneo... I could have gone down to chat, but I had little time left. I have to leave for Makati then. still, it's nice to see them there :)

Sunday:
ACET Proctoring. After about 6 hours of sleep, and sore joints... Nice to bond with Phanie...

Drawing while eating in Burgoo... then Starbucks for 5 hours in Araneta Center.

this is not to seriously criticize the two films I've seen, just some random thoughts.

being a mulawin doesn't make you a good fighter
being jumpy doesn't really help in battles, especially when you are carrying a wounded person
"Ugatpak" can be a nice band name
you'll know it ain't over when the "mulawin" is still up
kicking your car when it stalls won't help. regular maintenance is better
when you see your wife leaving you, don't just stand there [but I'll never know at the moment]
that Rodolfo is spelled R-O-D-R-I-G-O in your desk name plate
it helps to know the last name of a person when you are looking for a certain Corazon all over the country
fixing leaky roofs might solve your life problems
don't be afraid to dance, especially when nobody is watching
